“Why should things be easy to understand?”
- Thomas Pynchon
It’s always night, or we wouldn’t need light.

“It may be that human existence, or even all sentient life on this planet, will one day come to an end and it will be “as though nothing had happened,’ but in fact something will have happened.”
“She felt very young; at the same time unspeakably aged. She sliced like a knife through everything; at the same time was outside, looking on…far out to sea and alone; she always had the feeling that it was very, very dangerous to live even one day.” - Mrs. Dalloway
Introducing GOING OUTSIDE, the astounding multipurpose activity platform that will revolutionize the way you spend your time. GOING OUTSIDE is not a game or a program, not a device or an app, not a protocol or an operating system. Instead, it’s a comprehensive experiential mode that lets you perceive and do things firsthand. GOING OUTSIDE: 1. Supports real-time experience through seamless mind-body interface. By GOING OUTSIDE, you’ll rediscover the joy and satisfaction of actually doing something. 2. Is completely hands-free. No keyboards, mice, controllers, touch pads, or joysticks. 3. Delivers authentic 3-D, real-motion video, with no lag time or artifacts. 4. Delivers “head-free” surround sound. No headphones, earbuds, speakers, or sound-bar arrays required—and yet, amazingly, you hear everything. 6. Enables complete interactivity with inanimate objects, animals, and Nature. 11. Provides access to everything not in your home, dorm room, or cubicle. Millions of people have already tried GOING OUTSIDE. Many of “your” friends may even be GOING OUTSIDE right now! Why not join them and see what happens?
When I wake up feeling all twisted up inside, I wonder if I coiled myself or am the victim of coiling. Certain bends seem bad enough to break a heart but can be breathed away.
The past and the present.
but you shook ‘em loose.
“If there is no spirit of unfolding,
No gradual growth of consciousness
Beneath the land grabs and forced migrations,
The bought elections, the betrayal of trust
By party faction in the name of progress—-
What about spirit in the personal realm
Unfolding slowly inside us, so slowly
That our best days seem like a holding action?
Seasons repeat themselves, but the tree
Shading the yard keeps growing.
Don’t be chagrined that the sadness you felt
This evening beside the bed of a friend
Who’s growing weaker wasn’t more profound
Than the sadness of yesterday, that you still
Can’t imagine a fraction of what he’s feeling
As the world he loves slips from his grasp.
No progress from your perspective,
But who’s to say what you might notice
If the scroll of the last few months were unrolled
On the table before you, how clear it might be
That your understanding of all you’re losing
In losing him has been slowly deepening?
Another day, you say to yourself, at dusk
As you climb your porch steps, which you notice
Could use some scraping and painting this weekend,
A fresh coat that with luck will last a year.”
Never get so attached to a poem you forget truth that lacks lyricism.
“I am trustworthy and loyal, but at the same time I am no Boy Scout. No, I am certainly not. I am quite the opposite, in fact. And by opposite I do not mean Girl Scout. No. I mean Man Scout. And by that I do not mean Scout Leader. In fact, I am not affiliated with the Scouts at all. Let’s just forget about the Scouts and Scouting altogether, O.K.?”
- Demetri Martin
The appol does not fall far from the tree.
